Green isn’t just the Pantone color of the year, there are many ways to go green for your wedding. With the added convinces of online recycling at a touch of a button, who wouldn’t want to take a little time to help out mother earth?

Food

When it comes to picking out a caterer, you might want to consider a company who would be willing to pick out local fruits and vegetables. Contact your local shelter and food banks to see if they would be interested in taking your food leftovers; in addition, ask guest to bring nonperishable food items and host a drive at your shower and/or reception. Food Banks typically only take nonperishable food items but food rescue programs will pick up both perishable and nonperishable items.

Flowers

Buying locally grown in season flowers will not only look and smell beautiful, but they are probably more cost effective too! Arrange to have a nursing home or shelter take your centerpieces and bouquets. I’m sure they could be used to brighten up someone else’s day.

Cards/Stationary

Try to find a paper that has been recycled. You can even ask for soy-based ink, it’s a greener option!

If you can’ make any of these suggestions work for you, what matters is that you tried. Going green is a ripple effect, you might have just started a huge wave!
